Follow-Up on the Bread

Just a little note to say.... THE BREAD WAS A SUCCESS!!!

Here's is a crummy shot of it, but still: YUM!

Kind of crummy directions, but it worked out with some improvisation.

Tadaaa!

Now, off to pick up my sister and brother-in-law at the bus station.

Au revoir!

Links

Hola! (See, I'm practicing!)

I just uploaded a few useful links to related information. This includes the web page of the Hauser lab here at Harvard, in which I am working, the CEL page on Cayo Santiago, Puerto Rico (or Monkey Island, as you have all fondly dubbed it), and a map of the area. I will edit the map and add other points of interest, as the summer progresses. With luck, it will help you all visualize what I'm saying. :)

I will also post some links to papers of interest, especially pertaining to the stuff I'm researching, and maybe some links to videos and web pages on Cayo. I'm also going to attempt to figure out the photo capabilities of this program so that when I'm down there, you'll be able to see some fun monkey pictures. Huzzah!

OK, back to the bread... which is still gloppy. Hm....

Adios!

T-4 and Counting...

So I have taken Taylor's advice and decided to try to blog my way through the craziness that will no doubt ensue this summer. I figure this will save me hours of "How was your summer?!!!?!!" conversations and will document some of the stuff I need to put into my final reports in order to receive the other half of my grant funds. In addition, I think it might be nice to have a way to keep you all informed and amused (at my expense). :) This said, I hope you will all follow along, reply with comments and questions, and most of all enjoy what I write. It will be a joint adventure!

Anyway, I am now about four days away from D-day. That is, I depart in 4 days. Not going to lie - I am very nervous. I am sure I'll manage to hold up, but any which one of you should be prepared for a late-night call from Puerto Rico, saying, "WHAT THE **** DID I GET MYSELF INTO? I WANT TO COME HOME!!!!" Hopefully, this won't happen, but nonetheless, prepare thy selves.

I am currently distracting myself from the inevitable packing that must be done by helping the parental units with their errands up here in CT and by baking various things. More specifically, I am attempting to create a Rosemary Flat Bread (a type of foccacia) at the moment. I say "create" because I tried to follow the recipe to the letter and instead ended up with a very gloppy dough, so now I am improvising. Fingers crossed that I don't end up with a hockey puck.

OK, so back to the Monkey Island stuff. I am going to try to post more info about the location, research, and living situation after dinner. I will also fill you all in on mindless nonsense, such as what I have to pack, scheduling stuff for the summer, and contact info. Meanwhile, keep checking back regularly, and I hope you all are psyched to share in this awesome summer adventure with me!

MUCH LOVE!
